Since belief is the only thing required of a Christian, then, let’s talk about and clarify what belief is, what faith is. Or else we may end up doing what we said not to do in the last vlog—not realizing that we’re doing what we said not to do in the last vlog. Faith is a gift from God. It’s not something that we inherently have as humans. We have it in Christ, yes, but it’s not something that we’re born with. If faith were anything but a gift from God, then that means that our salvation isn’t based on grace—it’s based on some type of a law. Whenever we hold up our end of the deal, then God holds up His end of the deal. The conversation would go something like, “Okay, God. I went out and I got faith, and I mustered it up in myself. Now, You hold up Your end of the deal. You promised that You would save me by this stuff.” Our salvation doesn’t hinge on us getting faith, though. Our salvation hinges on God.
Let’s talk a little bit about that some more next week and take a look at Hebrews chapter 11:1.
