God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him (1 John 4:16).
“We love because He first loved us,” is a scripture of great note (1 John 4:19, ESV). The love that God shown toward humanity is a love that was never seen on earth before Christ came to save us, and it has not since been improved upon! This love expressed in and through the body of Christ is the expression of the love of God the Father. The love of God is antidotal, medicinal; it counteracts and remedies the affects of sin and of perishing. The Father so loved us, that He sent Jesus as the eternal remedy to sin and its affect upon humanity. We are now made able to effect His love throughout this earth in a manner only seen in Jesus Christ!
It is now our responsibility as believers, not to be carried away with the world and its deception, but to be God’s answer through Christ for what ails humanity. Anyone observing human history must conclude beyond all doubt that we are eternally lost without the intervention of God through Jesus Christ! The greatest intervention ever made was God sending His only begotten Son to save us and thus pour out His love in our hearts by the Holy Spirit! This intervention that the Father initiated continues through the Church because Jesus says to us, “as the Father has sent Me, I also send you” (John 20:21). We are sent to dying humanity with the Father’s antidote, His remedy, His intervention to those headed toward/for destruction who are often the ones closest to us! Yes, we are to reconcile them to God through His love, even the persistently obstinate ones! Love never quits. It never fails because truly God’s Love is a person! It is Jesus Christ! John, the beloved apostle, says, “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him”(1 John 4:16).
