THE UNSHAKABLE KINGDOM: JESUS IS ON THE THRONE AND IN CONTROL PT. 1

Now this, ‘Yet once more,’ indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain (Hebrews 12:27).

“See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven, whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, ‘Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.’ Now this, ‘Yet once more,’ indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear” (Hebrews 12:25-28).

The author of Hebrews makes a contrast between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant. Those of the Old Covenant received punishment when they refused to listen to Him who spoke on earth much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven, whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven” (Hebrews 12:26). We are living in a time when God will shake even the heavens, let alone the earth! Perilous times are upon us, the evil day has come, but not yet with all of its destruction. We must pursue the Lord to understand what this means! Whatever it means, it must include that there is a time coming and now is, when we will need God in a greater way and measure than ever before! The writer of Hebrews gives us the encouragement that we are not to depend on earthly things but on those things that are spiritual, heavenly things! The Kingdom we are receiving emanates from Jesus Christ! It finds its genesis in Christ as do we! This is the unshakable kingdom, a spiritual kingdom, that cannot be taken from us! The writer wants us to understand that our confidence must be in God and Him alone! Jesus is our confidence! This Kingdom is unbeatable, unmovable, unstoppable, unconquerable, and unshakable, and it has been given to us! Let us not be moved by the things we see happening on the earth, for “we are receiving A KINGDOM WHICH CANNOT BE SHAKEN” (Hebrews 12:28).
