HOW IMMEASURABLE HIS GRACE

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8).

I am overwhelmed by God’s Grace! The grace of God which has come to us through His Son, Jesus, is the most amazing blessing I have explored in scripture. Paul writes to us in Ephesians 2:8 that, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.” Salvation is by grace!

God’s gift to us of His Son, Jesus, is an act of His great love wherewith He loved us. This great love brings the understanding of grace that in the natural is unfathomable! We could never understand it without the aid and direction of the Holy Spirit. He helps us to understand the heart of the One who gives forgiveness, mercy, and the eternal status of sonship to former enemies- those who are guilty of all manner of transgressions with the desire for more.

The grace of God is truly awesome! Just think, grace—unmerited and undeserved favor. This definition does not, in my mind, explain the far-reaching effects of grace. Grace forgives the repentant sinner and establishes him in God’s kingdom and makes him a king and a priest unto God. God has given him sonship through adoption, which He will now display throughout the ages—forever and ever.

This is the beginning of the understanding of grace. Let us look at some points from the scriptures found in Ephesians 2:1-6 about grace. “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins […] But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).” What great results of His grace! John 1:17 says, “… grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” Wow, we have received everything we need for this life!

Christ Jesus is the One through whom we have received God’s amazing grace. The gift of grace cost God the death of His Son and the Son, His life by death on the Cross! What does this say to us? We must value and treasure God’s immeasurable grace! For when God gives us His grace, He must give us His Son.
