Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
(2 Corinthians 5:17)
Things are new for us every day because we are in Christ Jesus. In Christ, we have intersected eternity! Eternity is the ever-present now; therefore, we always enjoy the newness of His presence and all that comes with it.
In Lamentations 3:22-23, Jeremiah says, “through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” According to the Scriptures, that means we begin anew each day that we awake! What an amazing promise! Every morning is an opportunity to move forward with new mercies. We can walk in those mercies and be assured of a fresh start.
In Philippians 3:13, Paul says, “brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.” The Holy Spirit in this passage shows us a secret of this ever-present “new-beginning” that Jesus has given to us. How is this done? We must forget that which is behind and reach forward.
Jesus, in Mark 1:15 says, “the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the Gospel.” Another secret to having a “new-beginning” is to repent—turn from ways that displease the Lord, and to believe what the Gospel says to us!
The Word of God says, “therefore, if anyone is in Christ, He is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” Some days we do not feel that “all things have become new;” nevertheless, we must believe the Gospel! This promise, as well as all the others, are not based upon feeling or emotion, but upon Jesus Christ Himself! Our feelings and emotions may change from day to day, from hour to hour, so we do not rely on them but on the One Who changes not!
Let us move forward into newness by faith in Christ Jesus alone.
