WHAT IS MAN

He [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him (Colossians 1:15-16).

These scriptures are immortal and bring life from the heavenly realm. They show that the One on whom we are built is the Son of God, Jesus Christ! The Word is crystal clear in that we who believe have been given eternal life through the Son of God and that life is woven into the fabric of our being. Our eternal Foundation is the Person and image of the invisible God! Scripture tells us that “for by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible” (Colossians 1:16).When we say “by Him,” we speak of Christ as the architect and agent through whom God has brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. He possesses indestructible life and gives that life to us who believe. This brings comfort and strength to us as we encounter difficulties and struggles during our sojourn here on earth. Life on earth is our proving ground. If we view it properly, with single focus, we shall always persevere. We will never utterly fall.

Scripture goes on to tell us that “and as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man” (1 Corinthians 15:49).These words promise us that we shall bear the image of the heavenly man as we have borne the image of the man of dust. This brings to us a comparison that promises much more that an outward resemblance, but the character and nature of God Himself! These promises are unalterable! They are unchangeable! Because we have the character and nature of God, we are in unity and union with Him which assures us of sharing this indescribable blessedness!

Therefore, we conclude that having received from Him these exceedingly great and precious promises, and through them have partaken of the divine nature and have escaped the corruption that is in the world, we shall never be moved (2 Peter 1:4)!
