Since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear (Hebrews 12:28).
“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken” (Luke 21:25-26).
Jesus tells us what the times will look like before His return. I ask myself, “are these the days of which Jesus spoke?” If so, what should my/our response be? Although I absolutely love the song, “These Are the Days Of Elijah,” I believe these are the days of the coming of the Son Of Man. Jesus, in His discourse, does not use figurative language to describe the days before His coming; He is quite explicit! He tells us that there will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars, ‘’for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.’’ The writer of Hebrews says, “He has promised, saying, ‘Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.’ Now this, ‘Yet once more,’ indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear” (Hebrews 12:25-28). In Luke, we hear the words of Jesus that both heaven and earth will be shaken, but God has promised us a kingdom that cannot be shaken, that cannot be removed! What an amazing promise! In Luke 12:32, He says, “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” God our Father has gifted us this unshakable kingdom through His unshakable Son, Jesus! Nevertheless, on earth we are beginning to experience things that have no earthly solution-“distress of nations, with perplexity.” The nations are experiencing anxiety as never before! Our leaders are in a quandary on the left and on the right!
