The Truth and the lie are not equally opposing forces! They are opposites, not parallels; they are moving in different directions. Truth is also a clear portrait of repentance which speaks of a complete about-face. The Truth and the lie are 180 degrees from each other. They are polar opposites. They will never meet. They are as opposed as East and West! Galatians 5:16-17tells us how to walk out the truth of God when it is constantly under siege, and he says, “walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another.” God’s desire is that we, His people, not only know the Truth, but walk in it! Jesus, our Lord and our God, emphatically states, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).Jesus does not say to us, I speak the truth, or I understand the truth. He says I am the Truth! Therefore, everyone in Jesus has unhindered access to Him, the Truth of God! And everyone who is of the Truth must walk, talk, and remain in the Jesus way!
The Jesus way is never parallel to the world system nor is it compromising in any form. One can never walk in the Truth and the lie at the same time! If we are walking and living in Christ, it is impossible to walk and live in the lie at the same time. In 1 John 2:21, John says, “I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.” Let this scripture be our line of demarcation over which we will not cross!
The pervasiveness of untruth is monumentally unsettling and discouraging. Nevertheless, the Truth, His truth continues! It marches on! Although many with whom we have labored over many years have seemed to find comfort in things other than the Truth, still, His truth marches on! I am reminded of this old hymn I regularly sang throughout my public-school education. The lyrics are so powerful.
“Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord; He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored; He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword: His truth is marching on. Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! His truth is marching on.
I have read a fiery Gospel with its burnished rows of steel: “As you deal with my condemners, so with you my grade shall deal”; Let the Hero, born a woman, crush the serpent with His heel, Since God is marching on. Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! His truth is marching on.
In the beauty of the lilies, Christ was born across the sea, with a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me. As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free, while God is marching on. Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Our God is marching on.”
Let us, His people, take courage in this difficult day, knowing that in this day, the last days, perilous times shall come. He, our Lord, has equipped us to withstand in the evil day! Do not tire, do not give in, do not give up. Isaiah 35:3-4 says, “Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees. Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God; He will come and save you.”
Brothers and sisters, take courage, you were brought forth in the Truth. And remember, no lie is of the Truth!
Standing in the Truth,
Pastor Don
