Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:4-8).
Love is the litmus test of our Christianity! It is that crucial and revealing test that determines who we really are. Without this great quality – LOVE – our Christianity cannot and will never be proved. Our daily conduct as Christians must be lived out in the human body and in the midst of human differences, confrontations, and troubles. God does not shield His children from problems that are common to man, but He walks us through these human dilemmas with His immeasurable love which is seen in His kindness, compassion, humility, and longsuffering. Jesus Christ is the measure of our love ability. Our ability to love at all times, is summed up in this scripture, “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Therefore, we rightly conclude that everyone who is born of God overcomes that which is sent to disprove the work of God in the believer!
As children of God, we must reject by our steadfast faith in Christ every opportunity to be impatient, narcissistic, envious, rude, or arrogant. Just as Jesus never allowed any situation to provoke Him to having an irrational response, His followers should follow His steps. He never had an evil thought, never rejoiced in misdeeds, but rejoiced in the truth. Love “bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things” (1 Corinthians 13:7). This sentence caps who Jesus is as a person and as your Savior and Life! He walked this out as a person and walks it out in you right now! He bore all things the Father required of Him! You, also, must bear all things the Father has required of you! Jesus did not fail! You will not fail! And His message to you – LOVE – never fails!
