LIVING IN THE MOMENT

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7).

Paul, the apostle, tells us how to live in each moment God gives us. He says, we should be anxious for not even one thing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, coupled with thanksgiving, should let our requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7)! Being in Christ Jesus is a place of safety. Salvation is eternal rescue and safety. Jesus did not save us to lose us to our trials or frustrate us. His promise to provide peace is an eternal one. He assures us,“heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away” (Mark 13:31). He also says,“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. And I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand” (John 10:27-29). These Words are from the One who upholds the universe through the Word of His power and person! He Himself is His Word!

Jesus also says through the apostle,“I remind you to stir up [fan into flame] the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:6-7). Fear of the kind that we are presently facing, does not come from God; therefore reject it, do not allow it to crouch at your door. Paul elaborates further concerning God’s gift of Christ within us, saying,“Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you […] meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them” (1 Timothy 4:14-15). Simply put, keep your mind on Jesus! Do not look to the left or to the right! Keep your focus, as Hebrews 12:2 says, “looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of your faith”!

The Word of God is filled with His sacred and precious promises. He has promised to never leave you nor for sake you! In trouble times, we are to adhere to His Word and draw even nearer to Him, remembering that we are in Him and He is in us. The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, meaning we are to never allow anxiety to disturb our peace. He, Himself, is our peace, and it will guard, garrison, and protect our hearts against all attacks of the enemy (satan).
