Ascribe greatness to our God. He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice, a God of truth and without injustice; righteous and upright is He (Deuteronomy 32:3-4).
Moses, the writer of Deuteronomy, tells us to ascribe greatness to our God because He is the One and only true God and has made Himself known to us by His many prodigious deeds and infallible acts! Therefore, we are to credit Him with greatness in that He alone is the Rock, our Rock, Jesus Christ. “He is the same today, yesterday, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). He never changes; as He was one hundred years ago, He is today and will be tomorrow! His works are perfect, without flaw, never needing an amendment or addendum! With this kind of ability laced with unbending character, the Lord causes our faith to grow with every act of dependence and trust. Placing oneself in the hands of another according to our natural human instincts is risky business, but if one cannot trust himself to God’s hands, then who can that person trust, a fallible, fickle, or capricious human? Even if we were only capricious and fickle, we would still be fallible with limited abilities.
Therefore, when we come to God, we should remember that, “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good” (Numbers 23:19)? Faith means never questioning God’s integrity. When we doubt Him, we are showing uncertainty in His integrity and veracity, and thus show our own lack of integrity and veracity! The Israelites left Egyptian bondage after ten mighty wonders and a miraculous Red Sea crossing, yet for all that, they refused to believe God. “For indeed the Gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it” (Hebrews 4:2). They simply did not believe God.
Remember, “His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice, a God of truth and without injustice; righteous and upright is He” (Deuteronomy 32:3-4).
