Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end (Hebrews 3:6).
As a dwelling place of God, each believer is exhorted to hold securely the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end. The confidence the writer of Hebrews speaks of is our openly bold, Biblical speech which evidences our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Because of the hope we have in Christ, we have received this great confidence from Him and in Him; confidence that He exists and that He is able to do that which exceeds anything we can ask, think, or imagine. The encouragement we get from this text is that, the rejoicing comes from the hope as well. The rejoicing is our confident boasting and glorying in the Lord Jesus. Biblical hope always produces confidence and rejoicing.
“Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise” (Hebrews 10:35-36).
Finishing our life’s journey is explicit in both scriptural texts. Trials will come to every believer’s life. We will not escape difficulties. Therefore, the writer explains that those who are the house of the Lord will hold fast to the end. He also encourages us not to cast away our confidence which has great reward. Nurture your confidence in the Lord by reading His word regularly accompanied with prayer and healthy fellowship. Many of us are under fire from the enemy of our souls; however, I exhort you to continue believing and trusting Jesus. Your confidence in Him will be rewarded.
